Description:1971 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible (BH27G) for sale. I purchased this car in 1989 from the original owner and I have the original bill of sale. It was restored about 8000 miles ago and has been stored inside a steel marine container since then. Unfortunately the broadcast sheet under the rear seat was ruined but the fender tag is good.
Interior:
New carpet, original leather seats and rally dash with 8000 RPM tach. Odometer shows approx. 79,900 miles. Clock has been converted to digital movement. Nice console with slap stick shifter. Power convertible top is like new and hydraulic system works well.
Engine:
Originally it had a 318 but now has fresh 1968 440 Magnum engine .060 overbore with 10.5 to 1 compression, purple shaft cam, high volume oil pump, factory windage tray, new connecting rods, push rods, lifters, timing chain/gears, etc. Engine runs very strong and has had synthetic oil since break in period. Ignition has been converted to new electronic system with orange box and platinum plugs. Original 906 heads are ported and polished with hardened valve seats. A Carter 850 cfm Thermoquad carb gives 18-20 mpg highway cruising. Four-core copper radiator with shroud and 7 blade steel fan as well as electric pusher fan on switch.
Transmission:
Professionally built 727 automatic with Stage II shift kit and external transmission cooler.
Suspension and Rearend:
8 3/4" Sure Grip with 323 gears. Two extra springs added to stiffen rear suspension. Original power disc brake system has been entirely rebuilt and front ball joints were replaced. New tires on original rally rims.
Undercarriage:
Undercarriage was entirely sandblasted and subframe connectors were installed to strengthen the chassis and prevent twisting. The new floor panels were sealed and the entire undercarriage was undercoated by Ziebart.
Appraisal:
The vehicle was appraised in 2008 at $55,000 by a certified appraiser in Calgary. A copy of the appraisal can be e-mailed upon request.
Negatives are a cracked dash from the cold weather and a couple of slight paint defects. The hockey stick stripe is for a 1970 Cuda but was a personal preference. This is a car you can drive and enjoy, not a trailer queen.
The car is presently registered and in storage in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (no provincial tax). I live in B.C. but will be in Calgary during the first week of May 2011 to show the car to serious buyers. No trades. (Don't even bother calling if you are a scammer, testdriver or tirekicker and I'm not interested in purchasing more advertising.)
The price is $55,000 CDN and is well worth it based on comparables. Please call Matt at (250)718-7394 (Kelowna, BC) to set up an appointment only if you are a serious purchaser. (Some e-mails are not getting through to my account so better to call me.)
