| Description:1970 Plymouth Barracuda: A Mopar specialist has specified this as 1 of 36 Barracuda convertibles produced with only 4 with factory air conditioning. A complete rotisserie restoration with no expense spared. The factory “Blue Fire Metallic” was retained.
The Barracuda is Galen Govier documented and readily available.
The goal of the owner was to retain originality with this special convertible while upgrading handling and power. Modern day driving enthusiasts will welcome these expert modifications underneath the “skin”.
Desirable factory options include the bucket seats, wooden steering wheel and console, power steering, air conditioning, rally guages, power top, dual exhaust,727 torqueflite,323 rear axle, space saver, 383 /335HP, front rally suspension with power disc brakes, AM 8 track stereo, and “Magnum 500” styled 5 spoke road wheels.
Please read further to learn more about the careful modifications
Modifications have been performed by Dan Cragan of www.dcperformance.com and also byJuilus Steur of www.rybj.com They are both very well known in the Mopar community for their work.
The original matching number 383/335HP motor has been crated as part of this package. The replacement power source is a Ray Barton 528 C.I. detuned to 610 horsepower for better “drivability” and excellent reliability. The cooling system was upgraded with a www.rondavisradiator.com . The rear end has been upgraded to a Dana 60 with a 3.55 ratio. The 727 torqueflite transmission has been gone through completely and modified with the http://www.gearvendors.com/hrdodge3s.html upgraded Gear Vendor package. Headers are strictly produced for this Mopar and are ceramic coated.
To handle the 610 horsepower for stability, ride, cornering and braking, the following changes have been made. The contact patch of the tires has been doubled with 17” wheels and tires up front with 18’s in the rear. The wheels are Nostalgia 5 spoke two piece Mopar styled units . Larger wheels along with wider tires and big horsepower require a much stronger braking system. Drilled rotors along with three piston calipers up front, and dual pistons in the rear. Top of the line QA-1 shocks offer superb damping and rebound for excellent ride quality.
The sound system has been meticulously placed to keep the original 8 track player and dash configuration. Only the faceplate is in the center console with infrared remote control. The rest of the components are located in the trunk and the speakers have been placed as to not modify any of the original panels up front. “Cuda” badge in the rear.
